Blog 23: Final Lesson Reflection

1) Positive Statement
I am very proud of my activity, it went very well with my best answer and everybody really seemed to enjoy it.

2)  Questions to Consider

3) What worked for you in your senior project?
Finding my mentor worked really great for me. My mentor is my father so he is there whenever I need him for something and he always has great information.

4) What didn't work?
What didn't really work me was how prepared I was for my presentation. I was prepared but I don't think I was prepared enough. I stumbled a bit but I still got through it.

5) Finding Value
Doing this project has really helped me with my communication skills and how to use my time wisely. I have always been a people person but working more with my mentor made me improve even more. And because of all the deadlines and knowing how important they were really taught me how to manage my time wisely.

The most important thing that I have learned from this experience is work ethics because the work that I have done with my mentor has showed me how the working world is and what is expected of you.

My mentorship has helped me answer my essential question because the work I have been doing has showed and taught me the many different ways how stormwater regulations  can be implemented.

Exit Interview

(1) What is your essential question, and what are your answers?  What is your best answer and why?
      What is the best technique to implement stormwater regulations as it relates to the Clean Water Act (CWA)?
      Answer 1: One of the best techniques to implement stormwater regulations as it relates to the Clean Water Act is by public education.
      Answer 2: Another best way to implement stormwater regulations as it relates to the Clean Water Act is by building the community.
      Answer 3: The last best way to implement stormwater regulations as it relates to the Clean Water Act is by developing manuals and handbooks for industrial and commercial facilities.
My best answer is my first answer, public education, because people need to know what they are doing to cause stormwater pollution and what they effects are. They also need to know how they can help solve the problem. Educating the public is the answer to my other three answers.

(2) What process did you take to arrive at this answer?
      It actually didn't take me that long to think that this was my best answer. I actually thought that it would be my first answer to begin with. As I was coming up with my other two answers I was thinking that you need to educate the public first before you can build the community or develop manuals and handbooks.  It did not take me long at all  to figure out that public education would be my best answer.

(3) What problems did you face?  How did you resolve them?
      I really didn't face any problems. The main problem I had was too find good research to use because stormwater isn't exactly a very interesting subject that supplies all this kind of information. For a while I was having trouble finding good articles online, but one day my mentor gave me all these magazines with great articles talking about what is going on in different cities and how they are coping with stormwater pollution. Those magazines really helped a lot.

(4) What are the two most significant sources you used to answer your essential question and why?
      The two most significant sources I used to answer my essential question were my mentor and a gentleman named Steve Groner, he owns Steve Groner and Associates. Groner really helped me come up with my second answer, he is very intelligent when it comes to stormwater pollution. My mentor is really great because he has worked in the stormwater field for about twenty years and has helped me with so much of my senior project work.

April post

During the month of April I helped my mentor prepare and work at an Earth Day event teaching elementary students about stormwater pollution. By doing this I played a simple educational game with them and used a model of a city to explain how stormwater pollution comes to be,

      I participated at an earth day event which helps me answer my first answer which is my best answer and it helps me come up with an activity for my final presentation

How did the component help you answer your EQ? Please include specific examples to illustrate how it helped. 

It helped my answer my EQ because it made me even further understand what public education can do. Seeing all the 5th graders learn about the environment was refreshing because it shows the they do care and want to make a difference with is why public education is my best answer.

March Extra Post

During the month of March I helped my mentor in his office a lot and talked to a guy he knows Steve Groner. He is the owner of Groner Associates and is a consultant for public education in municipal cities. I didn't do too much this month but I got a lot of good information from Steve. He helped me come up with my third answer to my essential question.
